I have not been doing a lot of cooking because our little kitchen in our hotel room is not that equipped and has a very small working space. I am a really messy cook and need lots of space, so cooking here has proven difficult for me. It just doesn't compare to my beautiful kitchen in OR! I have to say though, I made a pretty good dinner last night.
We had salad with some salami and cheese and fresh bread on the side. I have seen a similar salad at many of the biergartens and it's similiar to the Chef's Salad in the US. They use a yogurt dressing which I found at the store. Whenever we order salad out it comes drenched in dressing which I do not like (I am one of those "dressing on the side" kind of people). But considering I have no idea how to ask for dressing on the side in German, I just eat it as is. It is nice to cook for ourselves so we have control over the preparation since I tend to be a bit picky.
I also made gnocchi with bolognese sauce. Yum! Portion sizes are smaller here, but it works out nicely since we don't have any room/containers for leftovers.

and I can't believe ya'll have a kitchen in your hotel room! We had a fridge and microwave, that was it ;)
A friend visiting from the US tried to order salad dressing on the side and completely confused the waiter.
