Lazy Sunday

Sundays in Germany are considered family days. Most stores are closed because Sundays are a legal day of rest for vendors (except florists). Bakeries and restaurants are also open, but not grocery stores. In some places there are even rules about not doing laundry on Sundays. Usually we spend Sundays relaxing and not really getting much done...I am starting to really enjoy having the time to just hang out, cook, workout, or read. There are times when we really wish we could go to the grocery store for something in particular (mostly me wanting chocolate) but we are getting used to preparing ahead of time and making sure to shop on Saturday.

We went over to our place today to put in some light bulbs and bring in some of the stuff we bought like the night stands, some shelves for the bathroom, and some artwork for my office. It is still pretty empty, but after this week, there will be a bit more stuff in some of the rooms.

I took some random photos of little things around the place...
Okay I guess I guess I took a lot of random photos

Some new vocabulary I need to learn!

This rainbow building is a German Montessori school right next to our building

FIS is behind that building and a ways back (about a three minute walk)

A little more to the right

The drying room
There are clotheslines for communal use for hanging things to dry

Our parking space B16

I can't wait to post some pictures of the rooms when they actually have furniture in them!

The Temporary kitchen is terrific. I have a feeling in some small apartments, that may be thee kitchen. The gradual move in may turn out to be a bonus in getting organized. Does it come with any window coverings? Are the neighbors friendly? Suspect you will meet some of them when you are there more.

Have fun

John
