Fun Friday

Last night John did not end up going to the work dinner, so we were table to take Jesse and Michelle to our favorite tapas place called La Barca. As always, the food was fabulous and we did not have to wait an hour for our food like we did last time! We enjoyed a long meal with the delicious La Barca Teller platter, some wine, and a fantastic man singing popular American songs in English outside the window. After dinner, we hit up an Eis Haus for some ice cream cones to eat on the walk home.

Prost!
(that means cheers in German and you have to look one another in the eye when clinking glasses together)
Everyone was pretty beat after a long week, so early to bed we went. Michelle and Jesse left early this morning to catch the train to Nürnberg and another train to Münich for Oktoberfest.

Because they are attending Oktoberfest, both Jesse and Michelle wanted to get some traditional German outfits, lederhosen and a dirndl, so before dinner we went to a store called C & A which is similar to JC Penny and had some fun playing dress up. Michelle got a very cute black and pink dirndl and Jesse got some stylin' lederhosen. John and I tried some, but didn't make any purchases. So many options so we didn't want to rush into anything...

John looks like he was born to wear Lederhosen!
What a handsome guy!

I got an impromptu lesson from a German woman in the dressing room who literally came up to me, put her arms around me as if she were hugging me and proceeded to fix the way I tied my bow. I had tied in the in back of the dress and she moved it to the front and fixed it nicely in the middle. Her daughter then explained to us in English that there is a traditional significance of the placement of the bow. If a woman wears it on the left that means she is single, if she wears it on the right that means she is married, and if it is in the middle, that means she is a widow. I quickly moved mine to the right!
I think this photo was taken before she "helped me out."
