Yesterday I got the keys to our new place! We are not moving yet as the temporary kitchen leaves a lot to be desired and we are quite happy in the new suite we moved to in the hotel. I am also not ready to give up the great hotel buffet breakfast as it my Nutella routine has been a wonderful start to the day. I met with Barbara #1 and the landlord to pay our first month's rent and take care of some paperwork for the handover. The shower door was still not installed, but they should have done that today. The landlord said that the kitchen should be installed around the 22nd of October, so in the meantime there is a small dorm sized fridge, small sink, and two hot plates.
The washer and dryer are going to be delivered Thursday afternoon and the handyman is also coming that afternoon to install the lights we purchased from Ikea. On Tuesday, we receive our delivery from IKEA that includes our wardrobes and my desk and hopefully the internet will be installed. Things are moving forward and looking good.
Our good friends Michelle and Jesse are in town this week. Michelle arrived Monday and Jesse will arrive on Thursday. They became our friends in Portland (both work for adidas) and they relocated to Amsterdam last September for new positions within adidas. They are visiting the global office in Herzo on business and then enjoying Münich this weekend for a little Oktoberfest action. Unfortunately John is super busy this week and has a few business dinners. He also has to work on Saturday, but we are going to try and squeeze in some time with M & J. Michelle and I enjoyed some yummy pizza last night at a little pizza place right around the corner from our hotel, then we met up with John in downtown Erlangen at the Steinbach Brau because he was having dinner there with some colleagues. The impressive part is that I navigated from our hotel to downtown Erlangen in the dark and did not get us lost. We certainly did not take the most direct route, but we got there safe and sound!
We are certainly keeping busy and enjoying ourselves!
