Knives, Curry, and Sangria!

Yesterday afternoon, John and I went to a knife skills course that was hosted at a local knife shop in Erangen. We were surprised to find that the instruction of the class was actually in German because the class was put on by the International Women's Group which always uses English as the common spoken language. At first I thought oh, crap, but luckily learning how to cut certain foods and vegetables is a very visual activity, so we learned a lot despite not understanding every most of the words that were said. We also met some really nice people that gave us some mini translations of the important points as we went along.

We learned how to julienne carrots, cut peppers, onions, zuchinni, green onions, and chicken fillets. Afterwards, the instructor showed us how to put all of those ingredients together to make a delicious curry dish. We enjoyed some lunch, wine, and fresh mango for dessert.

I took some pictures, but mostly of the cooking part because I did not need any distractions when using these guys:

Didn't we do some beautiful chopping?

This was a good meal!

We finished it off with some espresso

Then we went home to enjoy The Bachelor and Sangria with my girlfriends Christy, Christina, and Jill.
