Visitors

Margaret and her mother Sonja were just visiting so we have some nice pics of Grace meeting her Great Grandmother!

On John's birthday we went to dinner at Eat and had some Oysters and super spicy food. Grace came with us and slept in the sling. John and I went to Rogue for a drink afterward because he wanted to claim the free beer he gets for being part of their Rogue Nation. Jill met up with us and we hung out for awhile, but Miss Grace woke up shortly before we headed home. I decided to feed her again when we got home thinking that it would help her go back to sleep and it sure did because she slept the whole night!
Woo hoo!

Wednesday we met up with Margaret and Grandmother for lunch at Lovejoy Bakery.

Afterward we went back to the house and spent some time hanging out in our nice backyard.

Grace and her Great Grandmother
Look how Grace is holding onto Grandmother's finger in this pic. Cute!

Grace and Grandma Margaret

Four Generations!

Grace put her feet in the grass for the first time

and took a nice snooze outside in the warm weather!

We had a really nice birthday dinner for John sans Grace at Clark Lewis on Wednesday evening. We had made a reservation for 7:15, but found ourselves waiting over an hour for our table once we arrived because the previous diners were enjoying their cocktails and had no intention of leaving by our reservation time despite the fact they had already been there for three hours. We sipped on some water in the bar area while we stared down both the occupants of our table and the host who was not too sure how to handle the situation. John finally spoke with the manager to kindly suggest he encourage the table dwellers to pay their bill and move on to the bar area, but they were permitted to linger and we were eventually seated at a different table near the window around 8:20. Not long after we sat down, starved and somewhat cranky, a screechingly loud band started up at the bar/restaurant across the street. To say they were playing music would be far too kind. After waiting such a long time for our table, we could only laugh to now have to endure the less than entertaining noise. Luckily, despite their lack of finesse in the previous lingering diners debacle, the management was very prompt to call over to the other location (so we assumed) and ask them to put the kabosh on the piercing screams because shortly after the noise started, the windows and curtains across the street were closed so we could no longer take in their not-so-musical stylings. Then the trains started...we counted a total of four that charged past the restaurant only one street over also creating an overbearing rocous that interrupted our stimulating birthday conversations. But, being the very good humored group that we were, we could only laugh.

Clark Lewis has a special feature on the menu where you can get the chef's choice. We opted for that and had a wonderfully amazing meal. Of course I wish I had photos of all the deliciousness we consumed (especially because I know Mary loves when I photograph my dinner), but I was too busy eating to think about fancifying my blog post. For each course we got 3-4 different dishes that we all shared. There was a salad course, followed by cod cheeks and pork belly, followed by three really good and filling pasta dishes, followed by four meat entrees, followed by cake, ice cream, and an assortment of cookies. Needless to say we all rolled out of the restaurant when dinner was over. Yum! Jill was kind enough to stay with Grace so we could linger over our dinner and enjoy celebrating John turning the big 3-0!

Thursday Margaret and Grandmother came over in the afternoon and we enjoyed dinner at home. It was nice to have unlimited access to our very own table and a nice quiet atmosphere.

I made soft tacos with carne asada and contija (which is the crumbly white Mexican cheese). Not quite as good as our culinary spread the previous night, but good.

Friday night we went to dinner at Masu to celebrate my birthday because I am turning 26 *wink* and had some delicious sushi.

In other news Miss Grace has been practicing her tummy time and is getting bigger and stronger everyday. She has to weigh over 12 pounds now and is smiling more (except when she is out in public or seeing new people). She did give Grandmother a few big smiles though which was very sweet.

the hand is always in the mouth these days..

I don't want to jinx it, but Grace slept almost 12 hours last night...let's hope that is a new habit!!!
