Modern Mama?

I think I just inadvertently published two blank posts...sorry to those of you who receive posts via email...there might have been a few extra tonight... oops!

Today Grace came to school with me because it was the last day for all students besides half day Kinders. Their last day was yesterday which meant today was the first day of classroom preparation for summer in the half day Kinder classrooms. Since I don't really think Jill should have to be responsible for packing away my somewhat less than superbly organized classroom, I hauled Grace, the Boppy, the Pack n Play and the diaper bag to my classroom so I could help out. We just popped the Pack n Play up near the whiteboard and commenced organizing. Grace didn't do her usual morning nap, but she ate around 10 and then slept for a bit. She is taking shorter naps these days, but she is sleeping pretty good on a regular basis at night, so  I am a happy mama. She played on the floor for a bit (which we covered with a clean blanket!) and enjoyed looking around at all the interesting colors.

sometimes you don't want to nap in the Pack n Play

but you're willing to nap on the floor....

Yesterday Grace got to go to Samuel's office (my PSU adviser) for a meeting and then got hauled all over campus while I searched for the building I needed to drop some forms off at. Samuel said she is already earning credits for all the time she has put in at PSU in her first two months of life. She came to class with me four times and she came to my dissertation proposal too. She is such a good little tagalong. I love how (at this stage) Grace can come with me so I can still be a teacher and a doctoral student in addition to a mama.

We also did a fun little photo session yesterday, but those photos will be revealed over the weekend (surprise for Father's Day!)
They are SO cute!

Grace took a long nap in the car on the way home from school because I-5 was full of horrendous traffic. It took me an hour and twenty minutes to make the 25-30 minute drive. Not fun. She snoozed away the whole time, so I was worried it would be tricky to get her to bed tonight.
Luckily, a little package arrived just as we were getting home containing this...

At first Grace was a little hesitant and cried a bit...she was still tired and just waking up from her nap.

but after her bath and bottle, she was a little more into it.

she really mastered that ring grab!

I think Grace will have a lot of fun with her new activity gym. I really like this one because I think it looks very cute compared to some of the other primary color eye sores out there. I love the little woodsy animals on the one we picked and the colors are prettier than other ones I've seen.

The animals are very cute and make different noises. There's a few mirrors and a few leaves on the mat that make a crinkle sound when you touch them. It also came with a little pillow so she can do tummy time and have things to look up at. I can't wait to see her reaction to it tomorrow morning when she is fully awake and ready to play!!
