a few shots from this morning...
This afternoon I took Grace to her new pediatrician, Dr. Collins, at the Broadway Medical Clinic. She took a really long nap this morning to gear up for it and on the way there in the car I told her that the doctor was going to weigh her and measure her and listen to her heart and then she had to get some shots.
The last time we went to the doctor for her two month checkup, she was all smiles when we first got there, but this time, as soon as I put her down on the table, she started whimpering and looking at me like what are you doing to me...
She weighed in at 14 pounds 7 ounces (about 80th %ile)
She measured 25.5 inches long (about 90th %ile)
and her head measured 39.5 cm (about 20th %ile)
Grace was a little hungry when we were waiting but I was saving her bottle for after the shots, so she just tried to eat my hand...
She warmed up a bit when Dr. Collins came in and did some smiles and raspberries. I really really liked the doctor and she took a long time just talking with me and answering my questions about eating and sleeping and all things four month old baby. She was great. Grace gave her seal of approval with a big fart. She said Grace has really good neck control and she can bear weight on her legs which is a 6 month milestone. She also said Grace is very alert. When Dr. Collins left, another nurse came in for the grand finale....
First she got an oral dose of something. The nurse was very impressed with how Grace held onto the little vial. Then came the shots. Another THREE. Same vaccinations as last time, just round 2. I didn't get any pictures because I was tending to the screaming baby. She was not a happy camper, but once I gave her the bottle, she calmed down pretty quickly. Unfortunately a whole bunch of it spilled out because the cap was not on tightly, so she ended up wearing most of her milk. So we did a little outfit change and were on our way.
Wolverine bandaids make everything better!
She fell asleep in the car on the way home and then took a little rest to recuperate.
What a precious little sleeping beauty
I told Grace we could do whatever she wanted when we got home, so we are watching Shrek Ever After in my bed and cuddling. So far, no more crying and she seems to be happy again and not traumatized by the pinchy shots.
So far mom is not as traumatized as much as last time either :0)
