Grace started daycare yesterday. Surprisingly there were no tears from Grace or Mom. I am more surprised that I managed to get through it without becoming a sobbing mess, but we both did great. John took the day off so that we could drop her off together. She is going everyday this week from 8-12 and she'll stay longer on Thursday because I have a training to attend for work. I don't officially go back to work until Monday the 27th, but I wanted to give her some time to get adjusted before I am busy with work just in case I am needed. Miss Renee is her caretaker and she said that Grace did good naps both yesterday and today. She said Grace is a very calm baby and that "her friends" were very into her because she is the youngest baby there. After John and I dropped her off yesterday we went out to breakfast at Tasty N Sons and then we headed to Homegoods, Ikea, and Target. It's amazing how quickly four hours goes by, so even though we missed her, we still felt rushed in getting everything in! I was bad and didn't get any photos of her on her "first day," but I got some good ones this morning.
Surprisingly, it only took two shots to get this cute smile!
While Grace was with Miss Renee this morning, I went down to my school and worked in my classroom for a bit. Since I am only teaching in the morning, I will now be sharing my classroom with the teacher who will be teaching PM Kindergarten. I am very thankful that I didn't get moved to another school and that I was not forced to change my position as a result of choosing to go part time, yet I think sharing a room is going to come with many challenges. I began arranging the furniture and setting up, yet I really can't do this without consulting my new "roommate" so I really can't get too far. I wanted to at least get the furniture arranged because I am hosting a focus group for my dissertation in my classroom on Friday and need to have tables available for my participants to sit at. Things may end up getting moved once the new teacher shows up, but she may like what I've done. I think it looks pretty good so far....
This past weekend we spent some time in Sunriver and Bend because John played in a tennis tournament. We didn't get too much time to explore because tennis took up a lot of our time, but we really liked the area and will definitely go back. Sunriver seems like an awesome destination for a family vacation, especially when Grace is a bit older and can enjoy some bike riding and swimming.
John finally tried out the Ergo carrier and liked it. He and Grace went to get some coffee in the morning.
Traveling with a baby requires a lot of stuff...even if you only stay 1 or 2 nights!
Celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary with ice cream from Goody's!
Grace is blowing lots of raspberries these days, especially when I ask her to smile
We are now attempting to fill our empty living room with some furniture so we can actually use that space. We ordered some chairs yesterday and got a nice little rug for over by the fireplace. The space is still pretty empty so Daddy and Grace decided to do some "happy baby" yoga on the floor.
