Grace is four months old today!
It's so crazy to think that last year around this time we had just found out I was pregnant. I was lazing around in Germany all day, sleeping, feeling nauseous, and not doing much of anything. We were living at Matt's house because we were getting ready to move back to the US. Now, a year later, we have a beautiful four month old baby and it's hard to imagine that we ever lived without her!
Grace is doing more and more every day. She is making sounds, grunts, blowing raspberries and smiling (just not when I try to taker her chair pics!). We haven't had her 4 month checkup yet, but we are guessing she will weigh in somewhere around 14 or 15 pounds. I just can't believe it when I look at some of the clothes she wore after she was born, that seemed big on her at the time, and now they look so tiny when I hold them up to her. She is mostly wearing 3 month clothes now and some 3-6 month (depending on the brand), but I think that very soon she will be moving to 6 month onesies (at least in Carter's because that seems to be what we have the most of). She still gets swaddled at night and for naps because she isn't rolling over yet, but we have tried having her sleep unswaddled and she does just fine. I was relieved about that because I know a lot of other moms that say the transition to sleeping without a swaddle can be rough. For the most part Grace sleeps through the night. She usually wakes up once or twice and wants her paci back, but I still consider that sleeping through the night because it's a pretty quick fix and she no longer eats at night, so I am getting real sleep! She goes to bed around 7 and will often sleep until 6:30 am. I am interested to see what happens when I go back to work and need to get her up earlier than that...
Her favorite things to do are still jumping in her jumperoo (she is almost touching the floor without any books), her little play mat with the hanging birds and squirrel, Jacques the Peacock, Sophie the Giraffe, and she's getting much more tolerant of tummy time. We think she is close to rolling over, but it hasn't happened yet.
She seems very interested in what we are eating, but we are holding off on introducing solids until she's closer to six months after she is well established in her new daycare routine. I can tell she's going to be an eater! Our family dinners now include Grace sitting in her Bumbo chair on the table watching us eat.
