still pregnant
but glowing, right?
will she ever come out?
I went to the doctor for another check up this morning. Gosh it feels like I'm there every week--oh wait, I am! As of now, we are scheduled for an induction on Saturday April 7th bright and early at 6 AM. I talked with Dr. Crawford about the possibility of pushing that back to early next week because let's just say I am not too psyched about getting induced. She scheduled me to come back Friday morning at 10:15 for a non-stress test which will determine how baby Grace is doing. She said if everything looks great, then she can push the induction back to Monday or Tuesday of next week. There are however, some issues that can arise when a baby is "overdue" such as low amniotic fluid levels, placenta inefficiency, increased fetal stress etc. She said that she will be able to see on Friday and then she'll recommend either to go ahead with the induction on Saturday as planned or to wait until early next week. It's a fair balance between wanting her to come naturally and waiting too long, which could cause other problems....
I had read that induction often leads to an increased rate of C-sections, but Dr. Crawford said that the baby being in too long can also lead to an increased need for a C-section. So basically I have to face the fact that a C-section might be in my future. But, whatever happens obviously Grace's health and safety will be our biggest concern. C-section or no C-section, she'll be coming into the world sometime soon!
After my appointment I headed over to the Washington Square Mall to get curtains/window coverings for her nursery. We went by the house last night so John could show me the progress Jason made on his first day and we measured the window coverings that are there now so I could get replacements. We had seen ones we liked at Pottery Barn Kids a few months back and I was a bit panicked last night because when I checked online the color we wanted was no longer listed. But, I went to the store and found exactly the right ones--in the right size and everything. Yay!
When I got home I worked on proof reading my article that will be published soon in Multicultural Perspectives Journal and applied to teach a summer class through a program my school district is coordinating with PSU. I applied last year too and my course was accepted, but I didn't get enough people to register for it, so it never ran. Ultimately that worked out well because had my course ran, I would have had to travel back from Germany a week earlier than John when we moved back which would have meant missing out on the amazing upgrade to business class on my international flight during my queasy stage of pregnancy. I'd rather have the upgrade than the money for teaching the class!! I figured I would try again this year since I am taking a bit of a pay cut for my maternity leave. It would be nice to have a little extra money from teaching the class and even more so the experience of teaching the class. It goes hand in hand with my dissertation topic, so hopefully it will work out this year. It was really odd to think about dates for teaching it because I made the realization that I will need childcare while I teach!
For some reason April 6th has been a date that sticks out to me, so I am wondering if maybe that is when Grace will make her grand debut!?
