We lost our internet connection in our lovely hotel in Dublin, so I was not able to post yesterday. On Sunday, which was our second day in Dublin, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at a little place called Joy of Cha! John went for the full Irish breakfast and I had the American breakfast (American breakfast in Ireland..lame...I know). The pancakes called to me though! After breakfast we walked around the Temple Bar area and went into some shops. Then we made our way over to Trinity College and took the tour. We were shown around by a former student who was very entertaining. We learned about the architecture of the different buildings on campus and saw the Book of Kells in the old library building. He told us that students can elect to sit for optional exams during their first three years at Trinity and if they score high enough marks, they get five additional years at the college paid for including meals, tuition, housing, plus a stipend. They can continue their undergraduate education then go on to complete a master's/doctorate for free. He said it's pretty tough to get such high marks, but the concept is cool to me.
Oak tree from Oregon!
After we walked around for a bit more, we stopped and had lunch. We have been enjoying the Irish Coffee here a lot. I think John has finally converted to a semi-coffee drinker. He is no loner repulsed by the smell and taste. Victory!
After refueling and enjoying some food, we walked over to St. Stephen's Green and walked around. The scenery was really pretty complete with swans in the water, walking trails, and lots of blooming daffodils (my favorite!).
Yesterday we picked up our car and proceeded to drive (on the wrong side of the road!) from Dublin to Cork. I have more pictures, but I will post them later. I have tons of trouble using John's computer because I am a 100% converted Mac user and I no longer have the skills to operate a PC. We are spending part of the day in Cork today and then we are going to hit up the Blarney Castle on our way to the Dingle Penninsula. But only after we enjoy the best breakfast we will probably ever eat in our entire lives served by the lovely Johanna who runs the B&B where we are staying. If breakfast is anything like the assortment of deliciousness she presented to us upon our arrival yesterday, we will be happy campers!
I may just decide to move in here and never go back to Germany!

Meant to tell you guys to stop at the Captain America bar...it is on the same street that you walk on to get to St. Stephen's Green...the one with the shopping mall on it. Anyway, Justin and I included that little gem on our pub crawl and we thought it was pretty funny. Glad to hear you're having a blast, your pics look awesome!
I think, if your grades are good enough, you can get a master's or PhD in Germany and most European countries for free. The government pays, unlike the US, where one depends on grants or one's own savings.
