One Week

Sammy is one week old today! It's hard to believe that a whole week has gone by already. Sammy continues to be a very chill baby. She rarely cries and she sleeps, eats, and poops like a champ. She is nursing about every 2 hours and sometimes every hour in the evening, but she did her first almost 5 hour stretch of sleep last night in between feedings. It felt good to have more than 2 hours of consecutive sleep!

Yesterday Maricar came for Sammy's newborn photo shoot and Sammy slept through almost the entire thing allowing Maricar to pose her and take all kinds of cute shots. She was naked in many of the photos and succeeded in both peeing and pooping all over the blankets she was laying on. We attempted to get some sibling photos, but Grace was not in a very cooperative mood. We tried offering mini chocolate chips as well as the promise of ice cream, a popsicle, and watching Toy Story as bribes incentives, but her compliance was intermittent at best. I do think we got at least a few good shots in each of the poses because she would randomly decide to cooperate and show us her best "cheese!" We also got some family shots, which I am very excited to see. When we did Grace's newborn photos, we scheduled them for the day after we got home from the hospital, so John and I both looked extremely exhausted. This time we waited a bit longer so hopefully we looked a bit more refreshed and relaxed.

Maricar had an audience during the shoot

John and I are having fun doing comparison photos between our first baby experience and our second.

We look a LOT less exhausted after Sammy's birth. We preferred Sammy's daytime birth experience (born 3:45 pm) to Grace's middle of the night one (born 3:59 am).

We are trying to keep Grace busy and happy. Gem left today, so now it's just on us to keep her entertained. Yesterday we made home made play dough and practiced using cookie cutters. She loved it.
