Heidelberg

I am a little late in posting about this, but last weekend, Jill and I took a day trip to Heidelberg for some shopping and sightseeing. Since Jill is leaving Germany this summer too, she has been on a mission to take as many trips/see as many places as she can before heading back to the US. Heidelberg was one of the places on her list and when she invited me to join her, I was more than happy to tag along. It took about 2 and a half hours to drive there, so we just took a day trip. We spent the day shopping along the 1.6 km shopping strip and went to about 20 different shoe stores.

Apparently touching the monkey's mirror brings you wealth and touching his tail brings you lots of children.
I touched the mirror....

We enjoyed lunch at an outdoor cafe and finished up our afternoon with a visit to the Heidelberg Castle. We had to walk up a 300 m uphill cobblestone path to get there, so I most certainly earned the ice cream cone I enjoyed while touring the castle. It was beautiful and we even saw a couple having their wedding photos taken on the castle grounds. It was really fun to enjoy some shopping and sunshine!

Now that the weather is finally nice, it's so great to be outside and have a chance to see some of the great landscapes in Germany!

My friend is leaving Graz tomorrow to go back to university in Heidelberg. Such a gorgeous little town. I hope to see it one day! Great pics.
